Facebook to give Congress thousands of ads bought by Russians during election

Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg Might Want to Re-think His White House Dreams

In Zuckerberg's remarks, in a Facebook live post on his profile, he said that after finding ads linked to Russian accounts that were believed to be attempting to interfere in the 2016 election, Facebook turned them over to the special prosecutor.

He said Facebook would continue to investigate attempts by Russian Federation and other "foreign actors" to use the site to interfere in other countries' elections.

Not only will you have to disclose which page paid for an ad, but we will also make it so you can visit an advertiser's page and see the ads they're now running to any audience on Facebook.

Facebook said earlier this month that accounts likely tied to Russian Federation had bought ads to boost their reach on the platform before last year's presidential election. "We will roll this out over the coming months", said Zuckerberg.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg said his company is "actively working" with government investigators on the matter.

The company said it will not make the ads in question public, citing federal law that "places strict limitations on the disclosure of account information", Schrage wrote.

IRMA: Slowly but surely, power is being restored
Every spring the PSC also holds a workshop where utilities update the commission on their hardening progress over the past year. Most of those claims are from owners of houses, mobile homes and other residential dwellings.

"I wish I could tell you that we are going to be able to stop all interference". Zuckerberg may be unable to release the ads but Congress should do so. "We don't check what people say before they say it, and frankly, I don't think our society shouldn't want us to", said Zuckerberg.

Zuckerberg outlined nine ways Facebook plans to ensure something like this doesn't happen again.

"It is important that tech companies collaborate on this because it's nearly certain that any actor trying to misuse Facebook will also be trying to abuse other internet platforms too", said Zuckerberg.

Setting aside anything that might be problematic with that approach, Facebook also made the argument that the initial decision to withhold the ads was done so the company wouldn't set a troubling precedent for future information requests from any government.

At Twitter, meanwhile, executives from its Washington DC office will appear before the Senate committee investigating Russian interference in the election. He claimed the company was looking at adapting its anti-bullying systems to protect against political harassment, for instance, and that it is looking at using its ballot information tools to help more people better understand the election issues.
