Los Angeles Rams: Aaron Donald ends holdout

Colts coach Chuck Pagano speaks Sept. 11 2017 at the Colts complex in Indianapolis

Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald is now with his team. The team confirmed that Donald took and passed his physical. Donald refused to be with the team this preseason in protest of his contract.

Donald has been seeking a long-term contract as one of the NFL's best defensive players. In the process, he has incurred $1.4 million in fines, but Pro Football Talk reports that the Rams have chose to waive all fines and that Donald will not lose signing bonus money.

The Indianapolis Colts haven't won a game in the first two weeks of the National Football League season since 2013.

Donald is among the top defensive players in the sport, recording 28 sacks in three seasons and earning a reputation as both an elite pass-rusher and run-stopper. This news was first reported by Pro Football Talk. In 2017, Donald has a $1.8 million base salary and will carry a $3.2 million cap hit.

If he didn't report to the Rams, Donald would have lost over $106,000 a week, he would have to forfeit $711,000 part of his signing bonus.

If the Rams can make some noise at home versus the Colts, even without Andrew Luck playing on the opposite side, they could be in great shape by the time Donald is able to suit up in the near future. That is not enough money for one of the best players in the game today and it has not been reported if the Rams agreed to give him a raise.
