United States weighs sanctions relief while bemoaning Iran's behaviour

Iran to IAEA: No, You May Not Visit Our Military Sites

The Donald Trump administration waived nuclear-related sanctions on Iran today, even as senior administration officials stressed the action should not be seen as a sign that the president will ultimately support his predecessor's nuclear agreement with Tehran.

According to sources, today (Thursday), the U.S. will announce further sanction relief for Iran as part of the 2015 nuclear deal.

In a recent talk with ICANA, Ali Bakhtiar added that the nuclear deal, officially called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, is regarded as global law as it has been endorsed by the United Nations Security Council.

According to both ABC and Reuters' sources, that decision has yet to be made.

Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman testifies on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, before a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing entitled. The administration is also weighing whether to pressure the International Atomic Energy Agency to more rigorously enforce the current terms of the deal by gaining access to military sites. He also told The Wall Street Journal that he "does not expect that they will be in compliance".

Jamil N. Jaffer, the founder of the National Security Institute at George Mason University's Antonin Scalia Law School, wrote an op-ed forUS News in which he laid out how the US could forge a nuclear deal with Iran that actually stopped Iran from illicitly obtaining nuclear weapons.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addresses the 71st session of United Nations General Assembly at the UN headquarters in NY on September 22, 2016.

"These sanctions target an Iranian company providing material support to the IRGC's ballistic missile program, airlines that support the transport of fighters and weapons into Syria, and hackers who execute cyber-attacks on American financial institutions", Mnuchin said.

We want to maintain a competitive team while respecting our economic model. "I'd said that a few years ago with Forbes magazine; I see that it is a possibility".

"In the case of Iran, there have been some news stories about Israel's purported position on the nuclear deal with Iran". This is a bad deal.

New sanctions won't work either, the three said.

Other world leaders party to the deal, however, have indicated they are not open to re-negotiating. Strong supporters of the deal would acknowledge that. "It should be rigorously implemented as it is now", the French envoy to the US Gérard Araud tweeted on Tuesday.

"You'll see what I'm going to be doing very shortly in October".

While the USA acts as the sole detractor of the landmark deal, the United Nations, the European Union and major world countries have defended the JCPOA and appreciated Iran's full compliance with it.

"The claim of such a right is fabricated by Mr. Amano", Velayati reportedly told Iranian state TV.

Between 2025 and 2030, the agreement to limit Iran's stocks of low-enriched uranium and the number of centrifuge cascades it can operate will expire, allowing Iran to erect an industrial-scale nuclear program if it chooses. That certification requirement is not part of the deal but was imposed by Congress.
