Donald Trump On Mike Pence: He Wants to 'Hang' All Gay People

Report: Trump Repeatedly Mocks Pence, Jokes VP Wants To 'Hang' LGBT People

Whether he's failing to explain his tax plan, telling Mike Pence (who is not really Mike Pence, but actor Beck Bennett) to leave sporting events early, or trying out jokes that would have bombed in the Catskills fifty years ago, this President Trump just can't stop screwing everything up! Yet Pence isn't "innocent" when it comes to how he treats the community.

Mr Trump repeatedly chided Vice President Mike Pence for his religious views during a meeting with a legal scholar, according to the New Yorker's Jane Meyer. 'You see?' Trump asked Pence. "You've wasted all this time and energy on it, and it's not going to end abortion anyway", he reportedly said.

Pence also signed a bill in 2016 that placed new restrictions on abortion providers and made in the only state requiring a burial or cremation of fetal remains from an abortion.

The conversation turned to LGBT rights, The New Yorker has reported - at which point Trump motioned to Pence and cracked a dark, dark joke.

Susan Collins Forgoes Bid For Maine Governor, Will Run For Re-Election Instead
Collins put an end to months of speculation when she made her announcement at the Samoset Resort in Rockport Friday morning. She said a Senate colleague, whom she did not identify, had written her a note urging her to stay in the Senate.

But in true Trump fashion, even Pence's deeply-embedded homophobic ideologies are taken in jest. LGBT activists have interpreted that to mean gay-conversion programs, although Pence denied it. As a congressman and later the governor of Indiana, Pence has openly opposed same-sex marriage and gay anti-discrimination laws. Of course, allowing heads of households to marry one another in many ways strengthens the bonds of families, and arguments favoring marriage equality often stressed that point.

Pence has a long anti-LGBT history that consists of voting against LGBT rights in Congress, including support for a US constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage nationwide as well as opposition to the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, hate crimes legislation and "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" repeal. After weeks of protests and business boycotts, Pence eventually revised the law to explicitly prevent discrimination. Throughout the cold open, Trump continues to check in with Pence, finding new reasons to tell Pence to bail on whatever situation he's gotten into. It was insensitive of the president to make that remark, especially in light of those who do die as a result of hate.

Yet Pence isn't innocent in his views, either.

Donald Trump's least presidential moments so far.
