Hack-weary Equifax yanks a web page that was reportedly delivering malware

Was Equifax Hacked Again?

Equifax had last month revealed that in a hacking incident the personal information of about 145.5 million USA consumers were potentially compromised.

Equifax Canada says its US parent company's website has temporarily taken down one of its customer services pages amid reports that another part of its website had been hacked. Abrams told tech reporters at Ars Technica that he discovered the hack while using Equifax to dispute his own credit report.

The firm said it took down the link for credit report assistance temporarily "out of an abundance of caution".

The company, whose disclosure last month sparked an outcry and a congressional investigation, issued a statement after a news report said malware was installed on one of the credit reporting agency's web pages.

In early October, Equifax revised the number of consumers potentially impacted in the breach - bumping up the total in the U.S.to 145.5 million and reducing the number in Canada from an estimated 100,000 to 8,000.

As we previewed in our Seahawks breakdown , the Seahawks have struggled against the run but are still an elite pass defense. Sunday's game at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is the place Carroll used to call home roaming the sidelines from 2001-2009.

The company said the problem is in its credit report assistance link on its website.

The breach led to the retirement of Equifax chief executive Richard Smith, who has remained as a consultant to the company during the investigation.

Equifax has also said a file containing names and birthdates of 15.2 million people in the United Kingdom were accessed. Equifax first disclosed that breach in September.

On Wednesday, security expert and blogger Randy Abrams documented how browsing a page at Equifax's consumer information services portal caused his browser to be served with a message urging him to download Adobe Flash Player.
