North Korea to keep up nuclear tests

Kim Jong-un is watching the US fleet

As the United States aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan appeared in the waters off the Korean Peninsula, North Korea's emergency committee for opposing nuclear war drills condemned the joint move between the USA and South Korea to mobilize strategic nuclear assets near the peninsula, Yonhap News Agency reported.

A report by United Nations experts seen by the AP in March showed how Pyongyang evades sanctions imposed for its nuclear and ballistic missile programs to cooperate "on a large scale", including military training and construction, in countries from Angola to Uganda.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the situation with North Korea is different and riskier now because of its nuclear capability.

Pyongyang has no intention to hold talks on nuclear weapons, so Washington will have to put up with the DPRK's nuclear status, Chief of the North Korean Foreign Ministry's North American Department Choe Son Hui said addressing the Moscow Conference on Non-Proliferation.

Pompeo's warning comes at a time when other members of the Trump administration are express the president's intolerance for a nuclear North Korea.

The joint US-South Korea drills, dubbed the Maritime Counter Special Operations Forces Exercise (MCSOFEX), are said to "promote communications, interoperability, and partnership" between the militaries of the two countries. "The US should expect that it would face unimaginable strike at an unimaginable time", the Korean Central News Agency warned.

"I am not planning such meetings", she said.

Last week, North Korea warned Australia that "it will not be able to avoid a disaster" if it continues doing the bidding of the United States by "imposing military, economic and diplomatic pressure" on Pyongyang.

Pompeo, who was speaking at a national security forum in Washington, D.C., said Thursday North Korea's capacity to attack the United States would soon reach its ultimate point after months of tests and development, Yonhap reported.
