Rainy, humid Monday; warmer, less humid on Tuesday

Scattered showers through Friday and again on Sunday but Saturday looks dry

Columbus Day Monday will be a wet one.

The rain is expected to begin after dark near the Pennsylvania border and reach the greater Rochester area by or before midnight, according to a forecast discussion posted this afternoon by the National Weather Service. Furthermore, that low is lifting northeast at a fairly good clip, which should limit the steadier rain to the first half of the day.

SUNSHINE RETURNS: After a cloudy Friday morning, sunny skies return in the afternoon.

Clouds will be fairly thick today with a couple of showers especially north and west of Boston. Most of our current computer guidance is not too heavy with rainfall amounts...averaging about 0.5 inches to about 1.5 inches through early Tuesday morning. While there may be a few showers around on Sunday it looks like our best chance for rain will come late tonight and Monday thanks to the remnants of Nate.

AAA: Drivers Increasingly Distracted By Dashboard Technology
Programming navigation was the most distracting task, taking an average of 40 seconds for drivers to complete, the group noted. According to AAA, previous research shows that removing eyes from the road for just two seconds doubles the risk for a crash.

Showers will persist in the area through this evening before sliding south and east overnight. Highs climb into the lower 80s.

The end of our week is looking drier, less humid and cooler but our overall weather pattern remains warm. It will be partly sunny and less humid.

High pressure will pass by behind Nate, leading to a quiet day on Tuesday. "It is going to be, but not the heavy rain we were expecting".

The high temperature will be 77 degrees on Monday, Accuweather.com reported. That might sound cool, but with dew points in the mid 60s signaling some surface moisture, things may feel a bit sticky. There will just a few spotty lingering showers and areas of drizzle left late this afternoon into this evening.
