VP Pence leaves NFL game over national anthem protest

Mike Pence

Vice President Mike Pence left an NFL game Sunday after several players took a knee during the national anthem as part of a broad protest against racial injustice and police brutality.

Between 15 to 23 members of the 49ers took a knee during the anthem, as many National Football League players have done to raise awareness of social injustice and racial inequality.

Former governor of Indiana, Mike Pence had made a decision to attend the match of the Indianapolis Colts, to pay tribute to the former quarterback star Peyton Manning, who was to be honored at a ceremony Sunday. Colts players wore T-shirts drawing attention to equality and justice and stood with their arms locked during the anthem.

After an initial wave of protest following Trump's comments, many players have stopped kneeling during the anthem.

Pence used to taxpayer money to fly to Indianapolis just so that he could leave in a fake protest over players protesting during the national anthem.

He said he doesn't think it's too much to ask NFL players to respect the flag and national anthem.

Pence was attending a game between the Indianapolis Colts and the San Francisco 49ers.

Goalkeeper Joe Hart Dismisses Criticism After Latest England Show
Joe Hart insisted he ignored his critics after delivering a man-of-the-match performance as England qualified for the World Cup . They don't have Champions League-winning medals throughout this group, they don't have Premier League-winning medals.

Pence, who has gone out of his way to demonstrate loyalty to Trump, said in his statement it was important to rally around the flag and things that unite the country.

President Trump tweeted that he asked the Veep to leave the game if there was a protest.

The first to manifest itself when the national anthem was the former quarterback of the 49ers Colin Kaepernick, who had refused to stand during a game in August 2016, and then had put a knee on the ground at subsequent meetings.

In what appeared to be a gaffe, it emerged that the image Pence had tweeted with his wife Karen at the game had been in fact from 2014.

Pence tweeted a statement saying he left the stadium because, "I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our flag or our national anthem".

Instead, Pence spent most of Saturday honoring victims of the Las Vegas shooting before returning to his home state.
