Analyst Likes Possible Deal Between Disney and Fox

21st Century Fox in Talks to Sell Most of Company to Disney Sources

According to CNBC, 20th Century Fox and Disney have been in discussion about the a deal that would see most of the former sold off to the latter.

Disney, which under USA rules could not own two broadcast networks, would not purchase all of Fox, CNBC reported.

A potential media mega-deal involving Walt Disney buying some of the key 21st Century Fox assets is the talk of Wall Street right now.

For Disney, the opportunity to take control of another movie studio and significant TV production assets as it readies a direct to consumer entertainment streaming offering is attractive as is fox's significant exposure to worldwide markets, such as the U.K., Germany and Italy both through its networks and 30 percent ownership of B Sky B. Both companies aren't in talks but could resume them, according to the report. While that particular merger would be made more fantastical by a Disney-Fox deal, the feasibility of the concept alone shows why Fox might consider itself outclassed.

Disney, which owns the ABC television network, ESPN and has major studios in Hollywood, is set to launch its own streaming services aimed at competing against Netflix, Amazon and Hulu. That £11.7bn ($15.41bn) deal has run afoul of regulators' concerns about media plurality in the United Kingdom and the Murdochs' commitment to broadcasting standards. Instead, Disney would get the movie studio, the related global assets, and TV production.

Los Angeles Rams vs New York Giants
After the Rams scored touchdowns on their first two possessions of the second half, the outcome had been decided. Higbee, not normally used as a receiver, opened the scoring with an 8-yard touchdown grab 4:05 into the contest.

Representatives of Disney and Fox had no comment. As part of its streaming service announcement, Disney announced it would be ending its pay-one TV window deal with Netflix beginning with its 2019 film slate.

"I see lots of synergies for Disney".

Fox has bid $14.5 billion to acquire the remaining 61 percent of Sky it does not own, but the acquisition has been delayed by British regulators.

Currently, 21st Century Fox has X-Force and New Mutants films in the works based on the Marvel Comics properties of the same name, as well as an "R"-rated Deadpool sequel".

This plan isn't close to fruition at the moment, but it's notable that these conversations have been happening, and the market seems interested; 21st Century Fox stock spiked in a big way Monday following this news, from an opening of $24.43 per share up to $26.60 as of 2:55 p.m.
