Mother of dead Richardson girl arrested for child endangerment

She is being held in the Richardson jail on a charge of abandoning or endangering a child a state jail felony

The Richardson Police Department in Texas has arrested and charged Sini Mathews with "Abandoning or Endangering a Child" a charge that amounts to a State Jail Felony. Later, her body was recovered from a culvert near their residence on October 22. The police revealed that soon after the child's disappearance Wesley Mathews, 37, told the cops that he made her stand near a large tree near their house at 3 am on the day after she failed to drink milk.

He later changed his story and said she choked to death on milk and that he got rid of her body in the storm drain not far from their home, police said.

According to an announcement posted November 16, on Facebook, the Richardson Police Department said investigating detectives have determined Sini Mathews left 3 year old Sherin Mathews alone while she and Wesley Mathews went to dinner with their biological daughter, the night of Friday, October 6th.

The Mathews had adopted Sherin from an orphanage in India and according to Dallas morning news they reportedly sought treatment for her "multiple special needs". Sini was escorted by her attorney when she turned herself in at the Richardson City Jail. The Dallas County medical examiner is still investigating how exactly she died, police said Thursday. Sini Ann Mathews' bond has been set at $ 250,000.

Police arrested Mathews Thursday afternoon.

North Korea on 'Aggressive Schedule' for New War Machine
Yonhap, citing unidentified diplomats in Beijing, said there was a good chance that Mr Song would meet Mr Kim tomorrow. Images of a test stand indicated continued testing of a mechanism for ejection launch of missiles from a submarine.

The abandonment charges center around investigators belief that Sini left Sherin home alone for more than an hour, while the rest of the family went to a restaurant in Garland and ate dinner. "It's not necessarily related to her death, it's related to her care that she was being given while she was in that home".

Police said she and her husband left their 3-year-old adopted child, Sherin Mathews, home alone while they went to dinner just hours before they claimed she had disappeared.

There is now no evidence to corroborate Wesley Mathews statement that Sherin was still alive when her family returned home.

Both Sini and Wesley told police the child was alive when they returned home from dinner, though police have not confirmed that information. He admitted to removing the body once he realised that she was dead. Sherin was in the kitchen when they left the house, and was still there when they returned. The couple's other child is being placed with family in Houston, Texas, in the wake of her parents' arrests.
