Nigeria mosque attack leaves 50 killed

Nigeria mosque bombing

The cause of the explosion was the teenage suicide bomber, who came there with a suicide vest.

A bomber struck inside a mosque packed with worshippers during morning prayers in the town of Mubi. Last December, two schoolgirl suicide bombers killed 56 people and wounded dozens more at a market in Adamawa.

"Already, the injured have been rushed to hospitals".

The bombing in Mubi in Adamawa state was one of the deadliest in Nigeria's northeast since President Muhammadu Buhari came to power in 2015 pledging to end Boko Haram's eight-year insurgency and attacks by the group on civilian and military targets. "We don't suspect anyone specifically but we know those behind such kind of attacks".

He said since 2010 Amnesty International has been documenting human rights abuses and serious violations of international humanitarian law by Boko Haram that may amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.

SC women's basketball champions decline White House invite
"The only invitation we're thinking about", Staley said in a statement , "is to the 2018 N.C.A.A. tournament". Since 1983 , every NCAA women's basketball championship team has been invited to the White House.

"It fits with the increasing lethality and potency of suicide attacks of the organization's current "hot streak", which started approximately four weeks ago", counterterrorism specialist Yan St-Pierre said.

Mubi is in Adamawa state where Boko Haram held territory in 2014.

Boko Haram has waged an insurgency in northeastern Nigeria since 2009 in its attempt to create an Islamic state in the region.

The town's name was changed temporarily to Madinatul Islam, or "City of Islam" in Arabic, during the brief Boko Haram occupation.

"It appears that despite open calls for Boko Haram to desist in such acts of mass violence against Muslim civilian interests, that these have not been heeded", he added.
