The inevitable LaVar Ball vs. Donald Trump war of words is here

President Trump Blasts Father of Recently Released UCLA Player for Being Unappreciative of His Help in Gaining Son’s Release

Lavar Ball, the father of one of the UCLA players arrested in China, is taking fire from President Trump.

"I would like to thank President Trump and the United States government for the help they provided as well", said Ball.

The younger Ball, along with fellow freshmen Jalen Hill and Cody Riley, aren't with the rest of the No. 23 Bruins, who are in Kansas City to play in the Hall of Fame Classic on Monday and Tuesday. Trump had said he personally asked Chinese President Xi Jinping to intervene in the case.

LaVar, apparently insecure at the insinuation that he did not have the power to get his son out of Chinese jail - which again, LiAngelo likely wouldn't have served any time anyways - told ESPN, "Don't tell me nothing".

They also expressed remorse for stealing from three stores in China, and UCLA said that the players were indefinitely suspended from the basketball team while the school goes through the legal process with them. "Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out".

LaVar Ball had seemingly diminished Trump's role in getting the three players back home when he spoke on the sports network.

Danica Patrick to drive in 2018 Daytona 500, Indianapolis 500, then retire
I feel like there's a lot out of your control as a driver, and that's frustrating. "It's super competitive", Patrick said. Patrick races with Stewart-Haas Racing. "I mean, it's twice the field of Indy cars". "I had never had sponsor issues".

The President received the thanks of the players at a news conference later that day, where they also apologized for their behavior.

Ball's son, LiAngelo, along with two other members of the UCLA basketball team, were arrested on November 7 for allegedly stealing sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store, and detained in China for questioning.

I'm happy with how things were handled. "Don't tell me nothing". Sunday's tweet from the president of the United States calling out Lavar Ball by name somehow seemed like a foregone conclusion.

Which somehow manages to both be accurate - Trump was making it a bigger deal - and totally cavalier about committing crimes in foreign countries - shoplifting in China is different than shoplifting in L.A.!

However, by Sunday remarks LaVar Ball made on ESPN Friday caused the president to change his tune.
