Flynn said Russian Federation sanctions would be 'ripped up' - congressman

During Trump's Inauguration Speech, Flynn Was Doing Private Russia-Related Business on His Phone, Whistleblower

Michael Flynn sent a text to a business partner as President Donald Trump was delivering his inaugural address last January that a joint plan between Russian Federation and Flynn's business allies to build nuclear power plants in the Middle East was "good to go".

The witness's account, made public on Wednesday by the ranking Democrat on the House oversight committee, raises new concerns about the extent to which Flynn may have blurred his private and public interests during his brief stint inside the White House.

Mr. Flynn had worked on a business venture to partner with Russian Federation to build nuclear power plants in the Middle East until June 2016, but remained close with the people involved afterward.

On Wednesday Cummings sent the whistleblower's account to committee chairman Trey Gowdy with a request that he issue subpoenas to White House officials, including chief of staff John Kelly, as well as Flynn, Copson and their other business associates for material that would corroborate the whistleblower's statements. He called for a bipartisan investigation. The account provides the strongest claim yet that the administration was focused on unraveling the sanctions that President Barack Obama had just put in place and that Flynn had a personal motivation for doing so.

Flynn had assured his former associate that US sanctions against Russian Federation would immediately be "ripped up" by the Trump administration, a move that would help facilitate the deal, the associate told the witness.

Flynn had texted Copson with the same message - that the nuclear reaction project was "good to go" - from his place on the dais outside the Capitol 10 minutes into Trump's inaugural address, the whistleblower told Cummings.

With the clearance of Mueller's office, Cummings writes that he's now making the whistleblower's story public.

Royal Bank of Scotland and Natwest county branches will remain open
However, union Unite described the move as a "betrayal" and ripped into the Government for allowing the closures to proceed. Unite national officer Rob MacGregor said: "The Royal Bank of Scotland has chose to decimate its bank branch network".

The Wall Street Journal's previous reporting said Flynn had facilitated a draft memo with the National Security Council staff that would support the project. The investigators are searching for further evidence that Flynn lobbied from his government job as National Security Advisor for associates who had retained his consulting firm before the election.

Cummings did not identify the whistleblower.

This whistleblower has reportedly claimed that during an inauguration day conversation with Alex Copson (the aforementioned associate), Copson said this was "the start of something I've been working on for years, and we are good to go".

Cummings added: "They have now informed us that they have done so".

Cummings told Gowdy in his letter that he found the witness "authentic, credible and reliable".

Attorneys for Flynn and Copson did not immediately return email and phone requests for comment.

On December 1, U.S. District Court Judge Rudolph Contreras announced that Flynn had reached a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller to cooperate in the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Flynn said on a federal filing that he served as an advisor to the company between April 2015 and June 2016.
