Griezmann apologises after painting himself black for fancy-dress party

Antoine Griezmann Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann has apologised amid accusations of racism after posting a picture of himself in "blackface" make-up on social media.

"Of course he can leave at some point, like Diego Costa and Arda Turan did in their day", Simeone told L'Equipe.

"I love my players a lot and I love to see them grow".

After Atleti's transfer ban was upheld by Federation Internationale de Football Association, meaning they couldn't buy players until January, Griezmann committed his future to the club out of loyalty, signing a new deal.

Griezmann is one of the hottest properties in football after several outstanding seasons for Atleti and is reportedly being courted by teams including Manchester United and Barcelona. "I love them growing up, I'm not ungrateful", Argentinian Simeone said.

As usual, LaVar Ball goes gonzo over Lonzo
Ball's father has created countless headlines on behalf of his son, forcing Ball to answer for his father's statements at times. He probably can easily go out for 50 every night but focuses on his team, getting triple-doubles and (getting) guys involved.

Do you think Griezmann will leave the Spanish side in January?

He said: 'Calm down guys, I'm fan of the Harlem globetrotters and the good times... it's a tribute'. "I know that he needs to grow".

Man United are certainly interested, but there have been strong reports that Barcelona will bid if a move is possible. Griezmann is midway through that one additional season, and could leave in summer. Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have also been linked with the player who finished 3rd in the 2016 Ballon d'Or.

Bookmakers agree. The prospect of Griezmann joining is viewed as remote with odds of 8/1 quoted for a deal to be agreed before the next transfer window closes.
