Instagram Quietly Launches New Recommended Posts Feature

New Instagram test adds posts your friends like into your feed

Instagram told TechCrunch the "Recommended for You" section won't replace or get in the way of the accounts you explicitly follow, and will instead appear after you've seen all posts in your feed.

As the name suggests, the new feature will show users Instagram posts that they may like, based on the history. It will reportedly contain three to five suggested posts. Well now, just before the year comes to an end, Instagram is rolling out a new feature called "Recommended for You". What's quite surprising is that Instagram has not made an official announcement about this new feature.

The implementation of the suggested/recommended posts is a big change for the Instagram's users to easily explore more things in their circle.

This new section, entitled "Recommend for You", was spotted while in testing earlier this month, according to Tech Crunch.

It can deter users who prefer separate feeds.

With the Recommended post, you will be able to like or comment on the posts, even if you don't follow the person.

The latest feature is considered a key change since the platform abandoned sequential feed in favour of Facebook-like process-based one or introduced advertisements. Previously, users will have to go to the explore tab to see recommended posts, but the update has transferred these posts to the actual feed of the users. A user can also search for any topic on Instagram and launch the particular hashtag page. Named hashtags, Instagram said it is similar to following a friend and can be invoked once the user taps on a hashtag on another post. For the hashtags, you can easily opt in and out voluntarily. People can temporarily hide "Recommended for You" posts by tapping the three-dot menu above the post and then clicking on "Hide".
