Jadhav's wife, mother reaches Islamabad to meet him

Arrested Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav

According to source, Indian Deputy High Commissioner in Pakistan, JP Singh will accompany them. Responding to Pakistan's offer of agreeing to let Jadhav meet his wife on "humanitarian grounds", India had requested a sovereign guarantee that the family would not be harassed or questioned when they visit him.

"India informs that the mother and wife of Commander Jadhav will arrive by commercial flight on 25 Dec and leave the same day". This was the first meeting between Jadhav, who was convicted of espionage, and his family since his arrest on March 3, 2016. Pakistan's foreign ministry said on Sunday, December 24, 2017.

Jadhav, an in-service Indian navy officer had illegally crossed into Pakistan from Iran and confessed to have been tasked by Indian intelligence agency to damage China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and fan unrest in Balochistan and parts of Pakistan. Jadhav, 47, was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and terrorism in April, following which India moved the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in May.

The World Court ordered Pakistan in May to delay Jadhav's execution, and said Islamabad had violated a treaty guaranteeing diplomatic assistance to foreigners accused of crimes.

He affirmed that Kulbhushan was not given consular access as the Indian official was barred to speak anything.
