Bhansali's Padmavati gets U/A certificate from CBFC

Padmavati

Joshi's statement comes in the wake of criticism amidst reports that the CBFC committee chose to certify Padmavati with U/A certificate subject to five modications including a title change, despite opposition from some members of the special panel.

The censor board has chose to give Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati a UA certificate without any cuts but has suggested that the director change the film's title to "Padmavat" besides making four other modifications.

The censor board also asked to modify "incorrect/misleading" references to historical places.

The board, however, suggested that the director change the title to Padmavat, besides making four other modifications.

The title of Padmavati is likely to be changed to Padmavat, the name of Malik Muhammad Jayasi's poem based on Rani Padmini.

The producers and the director are "completely in agreement" with the proposed modifications, Joshi added.

The meeting held had regular examining committee members, CBFC officials and a special advisory panel in the presence of board's chairman, Prasoon Joshi.

Apple Loses Legal Battle Against Italian Clothing Company "Steve Jobs"
They are the owners of the company " Steve Jobs ", a clothing and accessory line named after Apple's iconic founder. The company is run by two brothers, Vincenzo and Giacomo Barbato who started their company back in 2012.

The song "Ghoomar" was also asked to be modified so as to make the depiction befitting the character being portrayed.

"Padmavati", backed by Viacom18 Motion Pictures, is directed by Bhansali and features Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapur in lead roles.

Mr Sanjay Leela Bhansali has came out to deny all allusions to a love story, but there were several BJP-ruled states including Rajasthan which have banned the movie going to the extent of declaring that they will not permit the movie to screen even if it gets cleared by the CBFC. The film, which was initially scheduled to release on 1 December, has been dragged into controversies for alleged distortion of facts from Rajput history, with Rajput religious outfits, actively protesting its release. A long discussion ensued, post which the makers of the film were met as well, he revealed. He added, "In the decision of CBFC, some parts of the advice do find reflection, but as iterated the final decision for certification is with the CBFC committee which has taken a pragmatic and balanced view".

Revealing what was discussed in the meeting, Joshi said, "The members of the panel had insights and also some reservations regarding the claimed historical events and socio-cultural aspects which were duly discussed at length after viewing the film on the evening of December 28".

"(I) Can cite two examples; "Aarkashan" wherein an eminent panel representing a concerned group was created and also in case of "Jodhaa Akbar" wherein historical experts were called in".

"This was an unprecedented and tough situation".
