Ex-employees File Discrimination Lawsuit Against Claiming Google

Google Memo Author James Damore Sues Company For Discrimination Against White Males

James Damore, the Google engineer who was sacked after his internal memo criticizing the company's diversity efforts went viral, has filed a proposed class action lawsuit against the company.

The memo, which cited women's "neuroticism" as a reason why there are fewer female workers in high-stress jobs, was published the following day by tech website Gizmodo and went viral.

Damore's lawsuit, which includes as a plaintiff another engineer, David Gudeman, was filed in Santa Clara Superior Court Monday and alleges the company discriminated against employees for their "perceived conservative political views", their "male gender" and "Causasian race".

"(Google applies) illegal hiring quotas to fill its desired percentages of women and favored minority candidates, and openly shames managers of business units who fail to meet their quotas-in the process, openly denigrating male and Caucasian employees as less favored than others."

In August, Google CEO Sundar Pichai wrote in a memo to employees that the tech firm fired Damore because he violated the company's code of conduct, which states that Googlers should "do their utmost to create a workplace culture that is free of harassment, intimidation, bias and unlawful discrimination".

Jaguars' defense shuts down Bills in AFC wild-card game
The Bills' Cinderella story continues into the playoffs with an AFC wild-card matchup with the Jaguars in Jacksonville. Quarterback Tyrod Taylor left the game after being thrown to the ground by Dante Fowler Jr. and hitting his head hard.

A former Google employee - famously fired previous year after suggesting in a memo that biology may play a role in the fact that there are more males than females in tech and leadership roles - has sued the online giant for discrimination against conservative, white men.

In a press conference with his attorney on Monday, Damore said Google employees "felt like they couldn't talk about anything".

He said he felt his suit would "really help make Google a truly inclusive place".

This newspaper reached out to Google and this post will be updated.
