Falcons lead Rams 13-10 at halftime of NFC wild-card game

Falcons face Rams in NFC Wild Card game

The NFC established itself as the superior conference early on in the 2017 National Football League campaign, and the result is a pair of juicy wild-card matchups over the next two days. Atlanta is the playoff savvy team here but they are a much different team and I think the Rams just have the swagger this season and with Gurley good to go I think he makes the difference and gives the Rams a close cover. This is the first of two NFL NFC Wild Card games on the weekend.

And at the head of L.A.'s scoring monster are a pair of 23-year-olds who have emerged as two of the best at their positions. That 42-14 loss to the Falcons was a catalyst in the Rams' transformation from LA laughingstocks to NFC West champions, because coach Jeff Fisher was sacked the next day. Likewise, that has given them a grand total of 478 points on the season.

If there's one "knock" on these Rams, though, it's inexperience. That includes tackle Andrew Whitworth, who played in six playoff games with Cincinnati, but lost all of them.

The Falcons are back for their first postseaon game since that memorable Super Bowl loss. This is why I believe that this game could become a high-scoring affair.

Can Falcons bottle up Gurley?

QB Matt Ryan leads their offense.

Mega Millions jackpot at $361M for winning numbers drawing tonight
No one has hit the Mega Millions jackpot since October 13, 2017, while Powerball has not had a jackpot victor since October 25. With slightly better odds than the Powerball game, it's rare that months pass without someone winning a Mega Millions jackpot.

But the contrast from last year's team isn't all bad. When the offense is not on the field, McVay may be sitting on a flight case or the bench locked in to his tablet while Wade Phillips runs the defense on the field.

Atlanta knocked off the third-seeded Rams 26-13 Saturday night at the Los Angeles Coliseum in the wild-card round and will move on to face the top-seeded Eagles in Philadelphia next Saturday.

The Falcons didn't meet those expectations during the season.

Now, it's impossible to expect Atlanta's defence to bottle up Rams star Todd Gurley completely, especially on the ground AND in the passing game...

Last year, it was Atlanta who had the all-conquering offence - what a difference a 12 months makes in the NFL.
