Packers promote Brian Gutekunst as new general manager

Ron Wolf: Packers didn't deem son Eliot worthy of GM job 'or they would've hired him'

Saturday morning NFL's Ian Rapoport tweeted Green Bay had requested an interview with Schneider but was denied.

The Packers, who finished a 7-9 campaign - their first losing season and playoff miss since 2008 - have undergone an organizational shift since the season ended. Schneider, a Wisconsin native, was the director of football operations for the Packers before being hired by the Seahawks in 2010. In Green Bay, the general manager has full authority over all football decisions, including the draft, free agency and hiring and firing of the coach.

A native of nearby De Pere, Wisconsin, Schneider broke into the National Football League in 1993 with the Packers under Hall of Fame general manager Ron Wolf. He also spent time in the scouting departments with the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs.

Schneider signed a new contract in the summer of 2016 that takes him through the 2021 season.

New Trailer and Beta Details Incoming
He's big game in every sense of the word, and should serve to get Monster Hunter fans suitably hyped in the lead up to launch. Monster Hunter: World launches on the PS4 and Xbox One on January 26th, 2018, with the PC version coming a bit later on.

Multiple sources told ESPN that Schneider would be very interested in running his hometown team.

Gutekunst may be the Packers settling, but that doesn't mean it's a bad hire. Green Bay submitted paperwork for permission to interview #Seahawks Super Bowl-winning GM John Schneider, I'm told.

Gutekunst reportedly was one of three internal candidates to interview for the job.

Gutekunst has been with the organization for 19 years, rising up the ranks from college scout. There are reports that Ball will stay on, working on contracts and cap matters, while Wolf sounds like he could be leaving Green Bay.
