Smoke billows from Trump Tower in NYC as fire injures 2

Trump Tower in New York City

The president has yet to comment on the fire in Trump Tower, where he lived with his wife Melania and their son Barron, until moving into the White House at the beginning of 2017.

Roger Sakowich, FDNY Manhattan Borough Commander, told reporters, "7 am, Secret Service noticed smoke coming from roof, flames coming from a vent at the top of the building, the fire wasn't in the building, it was on top of the building". "The men and women of the #FDNY are true heros and deserve our most honest thanks and praise!"

"The New York Fire Department was here within minutes and did an incredible job", said the younger Trump.

There were no reports of injuries or evacuations as a result of the blaze.

Three people, including a firefighter, suffered minor injuries, officials said.

It took about an hour to put out the fire. The twitter account of Boston 25 News released images of these firefighters on the roof of Trump Tower. The department later said a third person was also treated on the scene.

A call came in just before 7 a.m. for a blaze at 721 Fifth Ave., which is the skyscraper where President Donald Trump lived before moving to the White House previous year. A 1984 New York Magazine article described how the peach-tone marble amplifies the "gurgling of a dramatic 80ft waterfall as well as the voices of those who've come to gawk at the opulent decor and the six floors of expensive shops".
