US Suspends Security Aid To Pakistan Over Terrorists

Nauert told reporters that the suspension will remain in effect until Pakistan "takes decisive action" against groups, such as the Taliban, that are "destabilizing the region and targeting US personnel".

Nauert made clear the $255 million was still blocked, and the Pentagon said the new action targets payments of so-called Coalition Support Funds that the US pays to Pakistan to reimburse it for its counterterrorism operations.

"Pakistan has played a double game for years", U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said this week as she announced the U.S. would continue to withhold $255 million in already budgeted military aid.

The announcement followed the US President Donald Trump's derogatory Tweet in which he held Pakistan responsible for allowing terrorists to move around and launch attacks on US-led Coalition Forces in adjoining Afghanistan.

Some regional analysts question whether the Trump administration has a plan for how to move forward, or if the decision to cut funding was a reaction to recent comments from Pakistan's foreign minister, who accused Trump on Wednesday of lying about how much aid the US gives Pakistan.

However, a US official who spoke on condition of anonymity said the newly suspended aid, which covers transfers of military equipment as well as reimbursements for Pakistani counterterrorism operations, would amount to more than $255 million. It is time for the U.S. to accept its fault lines and fight its own war, or else accept its defeat gracefully, patch up with the Taliban and find a political solution instead of scapegoating Pakistan, and beat a hasty retreat from the quagmire it has got stuck.

Allegations and denunciations were made by Bush regime as well as Obama regime and Pakistan was constantly asked to do more.

But US officials accuse Islamabad of ignoring or even collaborating with groups that attack Afghanistan from safe havens along the border between the two countries.

Kono, for his part, expressed appreciation for the sacrifices made by the people of Pakistan in this regard and stressed the need for a coordinated global effort in the fight against extremism and terrorism, the statement added. That $255 million is included in the suspended aid announced Thursday by Nauert. The $33 billion Trump referred to represents all USA military and economic aid to Pakistan since 2002.

Terrorists storm into CRPF camp, two personnel injured
The terrorist organization says that they have done this to seek revenge for the assassination of commander Noor Trali. The terrorists stormed the 185th battalion camp of the CRPF in Lethpora village in Kashmir valley around 2am.

A senior Pakistani senator expressed disappointment at the U.S. decision to suspend military aid to Islamabad, saying it will be detrimental to Pakistani-U.S. relations.

The United States has been threatening for months to cut aid to Islamabad over its failure to crack down on groups such as the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani network, which it says operates from bases in Pakistan's northwest.

"However, Congress and the public are concerned that Pakistan is not producing a measurable result to correlate with USA investment", the report said.

The Trump administration briefed Congress on its decision on Wednesday.

It said that Pakistan believed that its cooperation with USA in fighting terrorism directly served USA national security interests as well as the larger interests of the global community.

Earlier on Thursday, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson placed Pakistan on a "Special Watch List for severe violations of religious freedom".

The military aid, known as foreign military financing, "promotes the development of Pakistan's long-term [counter-insurgency/counter-terrorism] capabilities and improves Pakistan's ability to participate in maritime security operations and counter-maritime piracy", according to the State Department. Sadiq said on Friday that "what the U.S.is doing now is not good for its policy against terrorism and for a lasting peace in this region".

Pakistan, which serves as a key transport route for supplies to USA forces in Afghanistan, denies harboring terrorists.

Since then, USA economic aid to Pakistan has totaled around $33.4 billion since 2002.
