Minor snow accumulations, generally less than half an inch, are possible with a storm system that will move through the area during the day Thursday, the weather service said.

A period of active winter weather is expected from Friday morning through Saturday in northeast in and northwest OH, with a potential of more than 6 inches of snow on Saturday, the National Weather Service said tonight. Wind gusts in these areas could reach as high as 30 miles per hour, causing patchy blowing and drifting snow.

Friday night, there is a 30 percent chance of snow before 7 p.m., then a chance of snow showers between 7 p.m. and midnight, according to the weather service.

There is a 90 percent chance of rain Friday before noon, which may turn to snow throughout the day as temperatures drop down to about 25 degrees. South wind 5 to 9 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Saturday, the high will be near 19 with partly sunny skies, the weather service said.
