Bitterly cold weather forecast for Tipperary over the next week

"Disruptive" snow showers have been forecast from Tuesday onwards, particularly in the east and southeast, which means there is possibility that some schools might be affected.

It's predicted to be one of the coldest spells Kent has seen since the nationwide freeze of January 1987, which left the country snowbound for a week, with temperatures of -10C.

Temperatures are set to plunge 6 and 10 degrees below average as bone-chilling winds make their way to the United Kingdom from Siberia.

Dr Thomas Waite, of Public Health England's Extreme Events team, said: "With the days feeling a little longer and lighter it can be easy to forget that cold weather can still kill".

For the rest of the week, temperatures will remain cold but will rise above freezing for the rest of the week. Fresh to strong southeasterly winds will gradually moderate by morning.

She said: "There is increasing confidence that easterly winds will develop, dragging in very cold air from Siberia as early as next week".

Tiger Taking A Ride At Honda
Playing in a steady 20-mph wind, Woods was better in all facets of the game Thursday at PGA National. Remains even par, a very good score on a blustery day. "I like places like that".

The cold snap will affect the whole of the United Kingdom from Sunday night with temperatures expected to drop to -8C in some areas.

"However, it will stay mostly cloudy in the southwest and west until evening". Over the coming days, apart from an isolated shower, it's very unlikely.

Sunday will be another dry and sunny day, with temperatures hitting 4C to 7C.

Brent Walker, Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, said: "There is potential for this cold spell to be the coldest for several years in the south".

Over the weekend it will become "even colder with widespread overnight frosts and bitter by day with a marked windchill".

Met Éireann says it will be dry settled but cold for the remainder of the weekend but a return to winter is its forecast.
