Indian woman arrested after posing as man & marrying 2 females for dowries

Woman Arrested For Posing As Man, Marrying 2 Women To Extort Money

Sen is reported to have hailed from Dhampur in Bijnore, U.P. She created a fake Facebook account posing as a man and chatted up several women.

A bewildering incident occurred when a 25-year-old woman named Sweety Sen allegedly disguised as a man for 4 years, conned two women into marrying her and traumatised one of them for dowry, claimed Uttarakhand's Haldwani on Thursday, February 15. However, soon after they were married, the couple had a downfall which culminating with the Indian woman assaulting his wife to secure her dowry.

Sen, who was absconding, was nabbed by Kathgodam police and was taken into custody on Wednesday. During questioning, Sen said she was a woman. Interestingly, the second wife was a guest in Sen's first marriage. A report in the Hindustan Times quotes Janmejay Khanduri, Nainital's senior superintendent of police as having stated, "he lady used to pose as a man in terms of looks and enticed women on Facebook and later married them". According to the officials, the woman was married twice and was arrested after torturing her latest bride into giving up her money.

In 2014, Sen travelled to Haldwani's Kathgodam area to meet a woman she befriended on the social media website.

She mostly had male friends, used men's toilets, and spoke in a different tone of voice, police said. She alleged that Sen had taken Rs 8.5 lakh from her family, saying that she needed the money for a factory she owned in Hardwar, police said.

Krishna then went on to marry another girl from Kaladhungi.

Police also revealed that during the two marriages, Krishna would not allow the women to look or touch her body. The woman, who was supposedly a double postgraduate, fell for Sen's fraud and eventually married her.

Her former in-laws lodged a police complaint accusing her of harassing their daughter for a dowry. "Sen had convinced her that she was a man", Khanduri said. After allegedly dressing up as a man for 4 years, reports say she tricked the women into marriage so she could get dowry.

"Krishna has been booked for forgery and not for dowry".

Police said they are on the lookout for Sen's family, who were present during both the weddings and allegedly visited the homes of the two duped women.
