3D printed house that will give shelter to those who lack

A $4000 3-D printed home still has some big barriers to overcome

It takes 12-24 hours to print each house, at a cost of around $4,000 a pop, which the company hopes to bring down from the current cost of $10,000. The company will begin its mission in El Salvador, where it plans to build 100 of its houses sometime in 2019.

According to a report from the World Resources Institute's Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, around 1.2 billion people live without adequate housing throughout the world.

The model home, which was unveiled at a South by Southwest conference and festival in Austin, Texas, on Monday, included a living room, bedroom and curved porch.

Many industry experts say 3D printing is already revolutionizing the way products are created and will only continue to do so in the future. And now the price to build a home is coming down.

The home was presented very recently, in March 2018, in Austin, Texas, and the printer is now packaged for the developing world. According to Alexandria Lafci, co-founder of New Story, the charity has also been 3D printing homes for communities in Haiti, El Salvador, and Bolivia. "With 3D printing, you not only have a continuous thermal envelope, high thermal mass, and near zero-waste, but you also have speed, a much broader design palette, next-level resiliency, and the possibility of a quantum leap in affordability". ICON isn't just focused on building homes fast, but is aiming to make them extremely affordable as well.

Together, ICON and New Story are 3D printing homes using a cement mixture. On the outside, it doesn't look like anything particularly special, although the covered patio and spacious windows are less common on tiny poured-concrete buildings. However, by working alongside ICON, they now have access to the impressive Vulcan 3D printer.

India's two budget airlines cancel 65 flights over "faulty engines"
On February 13, DGCA had said that it was monitoring engine glitches to ensure that safety is not compromised at any time. India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation Monday grounded the 11 A320 Neo aircraft following a mid-air scare.

New Story explains on its website that previous year, the technology they needed to create homes quickly and cheaply wasn't available yet. For this venture to succeed, they have to be the best houses...

Speaking to The Verge, one of the company's three founders, Jason Ballard, said competition is stiff in the emerging market of 3D printed homes.

The process is created to minimise labour costs and waste materials.

Since these structures need to be sturdy and hospitable, the companies aren't taking any risks and will be refining the process right up until they take it over to El Salvador.

After solving the vast housing and homelessness problems that plague the Earth, Ballard hopes to use 3D printing to help humans build homes in outer space. "We are going to install air quality monitors. It's one of the more promising potential habitat technologies".
