Calls for Mark Zuckerberg to testify before Congress are getting louder

Cambridge Analytica CEO Filmed Offering to Use Sex Workers and Bribes to Entrap Politicians

Facebook Inc Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg has been called to testify before the US Senate Commerce Committee following reports that political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica obtained data on up to 50 million Facebook users. He followed up with rare media appearances where he apologized for a breach of trust. We have a responsibility to protect your data - and if we can't, then we don't deserve to serve you.

Zuckerberg spends the first part of his response running through the events as we know them, and by now they're fairly well understood - a Cambridge researcher created a personality quiz that was taken by around 300,000 people, but because of the way Facebook's Friend APIs worked at the time, those 300,000 people inadvertently also handed over information about the people in their own social networks.

Facebook got into trouble with the Federal Trade Commission in 2011 for telling users that third-party apps could not access their data.

Numerous politicians in both the US and United Kingdom have called on Zuckerberg to testify about the company's data practices.

Zuckerberg spoke with CNN senior tech correspondent Laurie Segall, with the segment airing during Anderson Cooper 360.

"There's an element of accountability where I should be out there doing more interviews".

It seems likely that Zuckerberg, or one of his lieutenants, will have to testify in front of lawmakers.

It ignited a two-day selloff of Facebook stock, before shares recovered some ground Wednesday.

The company is now being probed in the U.S. and Britain.

First Responders, staff praised for quick reaction to shooting
A school resource officer engaged the shooter after he started firing, quickly containing the situation, Cameron told reporters. But it could have dragged on longer and proven deadlier were it not for the rapid response of a school resource officer.

Zuckerberg told reporters Wednesday that he would be willing to testify before Congress. "Facebook messed up royally, but most people are on a daily outrage roller-coaster and aren't sure if this is the hill worth dying on". But it also means more headlines, more questions, and potentially some very awkward answers.

"Should anything emerge from this review, or from our request to Facebook, the University will take any action necessary in accordance with our policies and procedures", it said in a statement.

The notice asked Cambridge Analytica to specify the "entities, "if there are any who may be harvesting and are engaged to "utilise data of Indians".

We're also taking steps to reduce the data you give an app when you use Facebook login to your name, profile photo, and email address.

Mark Turnbill, the managing director of Cambridge Analytica Political Global, was also filmed saying the company used proxy organizations to peddle negative material about other candidates on social media.

"This is something that in retrospect we clearly should have done, upfront, with Cambridge Analytica".

The company suspended Cambridge Analytica for the transmission of the data which Facebook says is a violation of its rules.

Ultimately, Facebook is a data-collection company and without user data, it would wither and die. With Facebook, the more I learn about their cavalier attitude toward users' personal data, the more I don't like, trust or want to spend time with them.

Facebook has said it subsequently made changes that prevent people from sharing data about friends and maintains that no breach occurred because the original users gave permission.
