House Intel Republicans Stop Russia Investigation, Decide No Collusion

House Intel Committee ending Russia interviews

Schiff said publishing conclusions exonerating the Trump campaign even as several former Trump officials have been indicted or have pleaded guilty to charges related to the Russian Federation investigation amounts to "capitulation" under pressure from the White House.

"I don't know that necessarily there was a full-fledged campaign to do everything that they could to help elect Donald Trump", he added.

Conaway said that meeting "shouldn't have happened, no doubt about that".

On Monday, March 12, the House Intelligence Committee released a statement that it has officially closed the investigation into the allegation of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation.

Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the committee and a frequent thorn in the side of Republican leadership, lashed out at the Republican majority in a blistering statement.

"In the coming weeks and months, new information will continue to be exposed through enterprising journalism, indictments by the Special Counsel, or continued investigative work by Committee Democrats and our counterparts in the Senate".

He made no immediate mention of the Democrats' objection.

Democrats, meanwhile, have been warning that Republicans were going to end the investigation prematurely, without calling dozens of important witnesses to testify and without forcing many of those who testified to answer crucial questions.

Trump campaigs in Pennsylvania congressional race
A day after getting news that the United States economy produced 313,000 jobs last month, Trump said his policies are paying off. Trump once again singled out CNN, MSNBC and NBC for what he views as their biased coverage of him and their poor ratings.

The conclusions will be met with sharp disagreement from Democrats and are bound to inflame partisan tensions on a committee that's been beleaguered by partisanship throughout the course of its Russian Federation probe.

Let's be honest, the House Intelligence Committee investigation into Russian meddling will not go down in Capitol Hill history as an example of bipartisan cooperation. In fact, one Republican on the panel, Rep. Tom Rooney (R-FL), admitted last night that the committee had "gone off the rails".

The defense of the intelligence community's assessment comes in response to comments from the Republican congressman leading the House Intelligence Committee's Russian Federation investigation.

Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee disagree with the position of every US intelligence agency that Russian Federation wanted Donald Trump to be elected president.

In contradicting the intelligence agencies, the GOP's 150-page report finds that Russians meant to "sow discord", faulted a "lackluster" effort by the Obama administration to combat Russian cyber activities, and raised questions about contacts between members of the intelligence community and the media.

At one point, Republicans considered erecting a wall in the committee's office to separate GOP and Democratic aides.

The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee is criticizing Republicans on the panel for wrapping up its Russian Federation probe, saying "history will judge its actions harshly".

"You use subpoenas when you think you can actually get something from them, and we're not particularly confident that the subpoena process will get us any more information than we had", Conaway said.
