Iran says Tillerson firing shows United States 'determined' to…

As relations with North Korea thaw, Iran poses a bigger threat

Britain, France and Germany have proposed fresh European Union sanctions on Iran over its ballistic missiles and its role in Syria's war, according to a confidential document seen by Reuters.

"From my perspective, the JCPOA addresses one of the principle threats that we deal with from Iran", he said, "so if the JCPOA goes away then we will have to have another way to deal with the nuclear weapons program, so yes I share their position".

France, Germany and the United Kingdom have proposed new sanctions targeting Iran in an apparent attempt to keep the U.S. within the 2015 nuclear agreement with Tehran. He added that without the full commitment of the USA and all parties, it is not possible to imagine the survival of the agreement.

The European powers said new sanctions are justified because Iran "did not commit further to stop undertaking ballistic missile destabilising activities" under the nuclear agreement.

Trump has threatened to pull out of the agreement unless European allies help "fix" it with a follow-up accord.

The Reuters report coincided with a meeting in Vienna on March 16 between Araghchi and European European representatives on the implementation of the nuclear deal.

"These changes and developments and firings in the Trump government are not new", Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said when asked at a news conference about the impact of Pompeo's appointment on the nuclear deal, according to state media.

Broadcom withdraws $121b bid for Qualcomm
Broadcom also tried to curry favor by moving its legal headquarters from Singapore to the U.S within the next few weeks. In a statement , Broadcom said it "strongly disagrees" that the acquisition raises any national-security concerns.

European states are considering imposing new sanctions on Iran over its ballistic missile program and involvement in Syria.

Trump is also reported to be close to replacing the national security adviser, HR McMaster, another defender of the deal, with the former Bush UN ambassador John Bolton, a hawk who favours pre-emptive military action. "We have told the Europeans that if they can't keep the USA in the deal, Iran will also leave it". "So I'm not sure that [nixing the Iran deal is] gonna end up having a detrimental effect", he said.

"If America exits the deal and unilateral sanctions return, we will definitely not continue the deal because it will not serve our interests", Araqchi was quoted as saying.

State Department policy planning chief Brian Hook, who led the USA delegation, has scheduled a press briefing later in the day. The JCPOA is the formal name of the nuclear deal.

Still, the issue is highly sensitive because the 2015 pact between Iran and six major powers ― Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States ― lifted worldwide sanctions that crippled Iran's oil-based economy.

"The missile dimension, the weaponisation effort, the nuclear component itself".
