People Are Celebrating Black Panther Breaking Another Record

Lupe Fiasco

Unfortunately, "Black Panther" may not hold the domestic record as Marvel's highest-grossing film for long because Marvel's highly anticipated crossover "Avengers: Infinity Wars" comes out April 27.

Black Panther is now the top-grossing superhero film of all time in North America, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It surpasses the previous title holder, 2012's "The Avenger" ($623.2 million).

In January, Kendrick Lamar posted what is now the most-retweeted Black Panther tweet ever when he shared the track list to the film's soundtrack, which he curated and produced.

Meanwhile, "Black Panther" is also now one of only seven movies in history to surpass $600 million at the domestic box office, holding the #1 spot for an incredible five weeks running. "Black Panther" took in $27 million in weekend ticket sales, pushing its domestic gross to $605.4 million, and its worldwide haul to about $1.2 billion.

FINAL FOUR BOUND: Michigan Beats Florida State, 58-54
After making almost 62 percent of their shots against the Aggies, the Wolverines are only 7 for 21 against the Seminoles. We've just got to hang in there, don't give them second shots, try and take away the 3 ball, the drive.

Further, it has earned more globally than any other superhero film than the two crossover features The Avengers and Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

The numbers are insane, but get even crazier when you look at the global box office. "Black Panther" has grossed $521 million domestically, making it the ninth-highest release of all time.

Speaking to EW ahead of the release of his new film Ready Player One, legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg - who himself no stranger to culturally significant films - has shared some words of praise for the Marvel blockbuster and its director Ryan Coogler.

The movie, which cost $200 million to make, stars Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong'o, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis.
