Qantas Airways Makes First Non-Stop Flight Between Australia and Europe

The 17-hour flight, flown by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, covered a distance of more than 9,000 miles (14,484 km).

"A direct flight makes traveling to Australia a much more attractive proposition to millions of people", Joyce said in a statement.

The first non-stop flight between Australia and the United Kingdom landed at London Heathrow this morning. Now we can do it in a single leap, ' Mr Joyce said.

"Qantas International's chief executive, Ali Webster, said Perth-London flights that originate in Melbourne were also proving popular with corporate customers like mining companies BHP and Rio Tinto, which have big offices in all three cities".

The QF10 Flight 10 departs London Heathrow at 1:15 p.m. and arrives back in Perth the next day at 1:00 p.m. Passengers stay on board for approximately 17 hours.

"This is hands-down the most comfortable aircraft that Qantas has ever put in the sky".

"We have been developing Terminal 3 to bring passengers new and exciting experiences and this new service from Qantas certainly enables that, being of real benefit to tourists, families and business travellers alike".

Rounds happy with military spending in new bill
Of the 234 Republicans in the House of Representatives, only 67 voted against the February bill that would expand budget spending. Thus, his conservative agenda was stripped away, in a pragmatic move to take the "throw him out of the WH" pressure.

The aircraft boasts a number of advantages over other models, including lower cabin noise, larger windows, improved air quality and technology to reduce turbulence. The historic journey for the Australian airline is the first to connect the two continents of Australia and Europe directly, and is one of the longest commercial flights in the world.

"The route between Australia and London was originally dubbed the "kangaroo route" for the seven stops it made over four days in 1947".

Qantas has also adjusted the timings of some domestic flights in Australia to allow passengers to fly into Perth from Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane to catch the QF9.

The inaugural flight was crewed by four pilots: Capts Lisa Norman and Jeff Foote, first officer Dave Summergreene and second officer Troy Lane.

To boost passenger comfort, Qantas said it has designed a menu that includes "poke bowls as well as home style comfort food" which "helps the body cope better with jetlag".

The new Qantas service is part of the airline's plans to eventually connect Europe with airports on Australia's east coast. Today, the average Australian weekly wage is $1600 and a return fare from Perth to London can cost less than $1300.
