Seven Suspects In Murder Of Slovak Reporter Released

Seven people have been arrested in connection with the killings

People in Prague, Brno and Ostrava gathered on Friday evening to pay tribute to the Slovak journalist Ján Kuciak and his girlfriend Martina Kušnírová whose execution-style murders, evidently in connection with his investigate reporting work, have rocked Slovakia.

The Slovak investigative reporter's assassination came just months after journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia was killed in a vehicle bombing in Malta after exposing crime and corruption on the Mediterranean island.

One of the men is an Italian who had done business deals with officials close to Prime Minister Robert Fico.

Jan Kuciak, who was writing an article on corruption allegations, and his fiancée Martina Kusnirova were shot dead at their home last Sunday.

Thousands marched in the capital, Bratislava, and other Slovak cities on March 2, demanding quick action in the case that has shocked the country and shaken the government.

His last, unfinished article was published posthumously by Slovak and global media.

CL: Zinedine Zidane says Neymar injury brings no satisfaction
Neymar himself posted a picture on Instagram of his right leg with the ankle and foot heavily bandaged. The former Barcelona player rolled his right ankle in the turf as he looked to avoid a challenge.

The Police said the seven suspects have been released as no evidence was found within 48 hours.

One demonstrator, Jozef Belovic, told Reuters: "There is a dirty mess all around here. and we common people have to put up with it". The funeral for Martina Kusnirova was held on Friday.

A junior party in Slovakia's coalition government led by Prime Minister Robert Fico has called for the resignation of Interior Minister Robert Kalinak.

Kuciak's funeral is scheduled for later on Saturday.

One of the men he named was Antonino Vadala, who was among those released on Saturday.

Roberti said the 'Ndrangheta, based in southern Italy, might have killed Kuciak and his partner in Slovakia because "there was no other way to silence" him. "An attack on a journalist is also an attack on the freedom of our country, we must not allow it".
