Tech giant to launch healthcare clinics for employees

Apple is launching medical clinics to deliver the 'world's best health care experience' to its employees

The company is advertising for primary and acute care physicians, physical therapists, nurses and other positions.

Although both the Apple and Amazon announcements have a high-tech flavor, the companies' goals likely aren't limited to a single industry. And now Apple is joining the fray with what will start as a network of private clinics for its employees, but with hints at wider ambitions.

Apple is launching AC Wellness, a network of health clinics for its employees and their families, this spring, reports CNBC, citing "sources familiar with the company's plans".

Apple said it will provide a "unique concierge-like healthcare experience. enabled by technology". AC Wellness lists its address at a site just blocks from Apple's original campus in Cupertino, California.

Lawyers Give 'Empowering' Update About The 'House Of Horrors' Family
The seven adult Turpin children are now recovering at a medical center in Corona, California , according to their lawyers. David and Louise Turpin appear in court for a conference about their case on Friday.

Sources told CNBC, the centres will initially only serve Apple's employees in Santa Clara County, where its headquarters are located via two clinics.

A lead care navigator supervises the care of Apple employees will make around $144,000 a year and is expected to "always appear polished and composed", according to Glassdoor. Last month, Amazon, JPMorgan Chase, and Berkshire Hathaway announced that they would be working together to pinpoint "ways to address healthcare for their U.S. employees, with the aim of improving employee satisfaction and reducing costs". However, few details are available at this time.

But Amazon's venture seems to be targeting rising healthcare costs, while Apple's goal seems to be innovation in patient care. According to job listings for the new medical network, AC Wellness will also add a couple more unique roles to the mix: a population health designer and clinical program design lead.

Providing better health care is not only beneficial to employees, but to employers as well. Apple is now recruiting doctors, health coaches, and a nursing staff. Apple will start small, expanding in the future.
