Trump Corporation Demands Compensation for Eviction from Hotel

Trump hotel executives, security guards abandon Panama property following 12-day standoff with owners

After a protracted, odd standoff over the status of the hotel, its majority owner, Orestes Fintiklis, managing director of Ithaca Capital Partners, has taken control of the property and unceremoniously removed the Trump Hotels name from its facade. "The only ill-deserved victor here is the (Trump Organization) who continues to clip management fees whilst our hotel is driven into the ground", Fintiklis wrote in a letter to fellow hotel-room owners earlier this year.

In a clip from Univison's David Adams, Fintiklis said the matter is "a purely commercial dispute that just spun out of control - and today this dispute has been settled by the judges and the authorities of this country".

In February, Fintiklis filed a legal complaint to fire the organization and alleged that it had improperly destroyed documents, the AP reported.

For more than a week, Trump's hotel business staved off efforts by Fintiklis and his allies to gain control of the property, with rival security teams skirmishing over physical control of key infrastructure.

A legal battle began last fall with Ithaca Capital claiming in a lawsuit that the hotel had "steadily been losing market share and stands in last place among its peer luxury hotels in all the relevant metrics for success in the hotel industry".

The standoff between Miami-based Fintiklis and the management team at the hotel lasted over a week.

The instance led to a member of the hotel's owner's association being shoved by an unknown security official-an event that was caught on film.

Afghan Taliban calls on U.S. officials for direct talks
The so-called Kabul Process meeting is being attended by representatives from more than 20 countries and worldwide organisations. While the US military says the strategy has hit the Taliban hard, they still control or contest much of the country.

The Trump Organization said in a statement that it was "fully confident" it would prevail in the dispute.

The Trump organization said Fintiklis resorted to "mob style tactics" by repeatedly attempting to "infiltrate and disrupt its computer systems and threatening and intimidating any employee of the Hotel that resisted".

"Today Panama has made us proud", Fintiklis said, adding that he meant to apply for Panamanian citizenship.

Trump Organization security abandoned the property. "That's a question we shouldn't have to ask, but one everyone needs to be asking". In late December, Trump's management team ran off a team of Marriott hotel executives visiting the property at Fintiklis's invitation.

As he has during other moments in the standoff when he claimed victory, he played the piano in the hotel lobby.

Mr. Fintiklis, a Cypriot citizen, then strode to the lobby's baby grand piano and played and sang "Accordeon", a popular Greek song about the fight against fascism.

Within hours of the verdict from a Panamanian court, hotel staff removed the Trump name from it main entrance.
