Turkish police, gendarmerie forces join Afrin operation

'I'm not a terrorist' - Wanted Syrian Kurdish leader speaks out

Turkey launched the operation on January 20 to clear the YPG/PKK-Daesh terrorist groups from Afrin, just across Turkey's border, to protect the border and protect civilians on both sides.

"The judge released my client", lawyer Miroslav Krutina told reporters.

Turkey deems Muslim, a former head of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Syria, a "most wanted terrorist" and offered a reward of almost $1 million for his arrest, according to Al Jazeera.

The Czech Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying it "strictly rejects any accusations of supporting terrorism".

Muslim was detained in the Czech capital on February 24 based on an Interpol notice from Turkey.

Olive Branch rebels told Syria Direct on Tuesday that they view the capture of the Afrin-Turkey border as a strategic victory. Turkey says the PYD is a part of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), it denotes as a terrorist organisation.

Pak violates ceasefire in Jammu & Kashmir
Officials said that a special camp has been set up a few kilometres away from the affected villages to house the displaced people. Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Nasir Naqash confirmed hearing about the announcements from the Pakistan side.

The main aim of the Turkish forces is to establish security and stability along Turkey's borders.

Some of the special forces units were also stationed in the villages in order to prevent YPG militants from infiltrating them. Until 2015, when peace talks and a 2½-year cease-fire between Turkey and the PKK collapsed, Muslim used to meet with senior Turkish officials to discuss the PYD's role in the Syrian opposition.

The charges against him include damaging national unity and integrity, deliberate murder, damaging public property and transferring risky materials, according to Anadolu.

When asked by reporters on Tuesday if Turkey is "violating the United Nations cease-fire" in Syria, US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said that she would "encourage Turkey to go back and read the United Nations resolution".

The YPG is the Syrian branch of the PKK, which for over three decades has waged a bloody campaign against the Turkish state and is banned by Turkey, the USA and the European Union as a terror group.

He said: "Everybody knows I am a politician and my name was included through 49 names [to be arrested in Turkey], of which I know a lot of them".
