CWG 2018: Shreyasi Singh Clinches Gold in Women's Double Trap Finals

(G.N.S) DT.11 Indian Shooter Shreyasi Singh won the women's double trap gold medal in Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast, edging out Australia's Emma Cox in shoot-off. He was leading the last four shots, but in the end, Russia's Vitaly Fokiv took 68 points and earned gold. While the Indian progressed with scores of 24, 25, 22 and 25 in four rounds; reached the same total with scores of 23, 28, 27 and 18. Mittal, who is considered as India's top-ranked shooter when it comes to double trap format won the second bronze medal of the day in double traps men's finals of the CWG. Scotland's Linda Pearson won bronze after getting a score of 87.

Yet another medal for India in shooting and yet again, the shooter was extremely close to land a silver.

In the two-series play-off for the gold medal, Kneale got 17 points, while MacMath got 19 points.

Indian shooters continue to perform in the Commonwealth Games in Australia. The day began slightly on a disappointing note after defending champion Jitu Rai bowed out of 50m pistol finals event quickly. It all started with Manu Bhaker and Heena Sidhu claiming Gold and Silver respectively in the Women's 10m Air Pistol event. Kneale had finished 3rd while Mittal came fourth. The 26-year-old had previously won a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, in the same event.

Mittal finished third on the podium after scoring 53 in the finals at the Belmont Shooting Centre. However, Mittal missed three of his shots in the next 10 tries where Kneale went ahead by taking five of them. In the qualifiers, David McMath had finished on pole position with India's Mohammad Ashab finishing 2nd.
