Prince's unreleased 'vault' was literally in a vault

Prince investigation evidence released to public

Prince died on on April 21, 2016. Prince was 57 when he was found alone and unresponsive in an elevator at his Paisley Park estate on April 21, 2016.

As previously reported, toxicology reports found that Prince had an "exceedingly high" amount of fentanyl in his system at the time of his death.

Prince said he was feeling antsy and asked about opiate withdrawal symptoms, according to Carver County Attorney Mark Metz.

While Metz said that there is "no doubt" that the actions of those around Prince would be eyed suspiciously, "suspicions and innuendo are categorically insufficient" to file charges.

Images just released show Paisley Park as a colorful, eclectic space that was the beloved home of Prince, where the superstar had relaxed, recorded music and threw parties.

Metz says there may be speculation on how Prince got the pills, but he can not say conclusively that any individual enabled that. Prince had been experiencing back pain from years of performances, Johnson said.

Metz said investigators were confident none of the medications prescribed by Schulenberg had caused Prince's death.

Surveillance footage showed the bodyguard Johnson at a Walgreens, picking up a prescription hours before Prince's death.

Wright, who didn't remember how many pills Prince claimed he took, told investigators that the amount shouldn't have been enough to require the administration of Narcan.

Federal authorities say they will not file criminal charges either.

And Metz says he doesn't think the people around Prince knew it either. A law enforcement official close to the investigation told The Associated Press that the federal investigation is now inactive unless new information emerges.

Schulenberg had examined Prince in the weeks before his death and illegally prescribed the star 15 Percocet pills in the name of his manager, Kirk Johnson, in order to protect the star's privacy, officials said. The medical examiner determined that the singer died from an accidental overdose of the opioid fentanyl.
