Snapchat AR Game Lenses 'Snappables': What You Need To Know

Snapchat has released a series of new Lenses for playing augmented reality games with your friends on the multimedia messaging app. Not for the self-conscious the new feature can be controlled through facial expressions leading to some awkward public

The games are called Snappables and allow members to compete with friends in a series of different games. Some Snappables invite you to jump into another world together and then invite your friends to join in. Not only that, new Lenses are coming to the multimedia messaging app as well.

According to SnapChat, Snappables live right where Lenses do. According to the company, Snappables will have a special objective in the upcoming augmented reality games. New Snappables will be released every week! Depending on the game, users will employ touch, motion and facial expressions to control Snappables. These are created to let you play augmented reality games with friends - without having to leave the Snapchat app. Creators will have the opportunity to import their artwork, build their experience, and best of all, publish and promote their lenses with a unique Snapcode and Lens link. Here's what you need to know. Just wait for a notification or check the Google Play page within the week to see if it's available already so you can start doing those weird gestures and expressions in public.

Android Police pointed out that Snappables appear to be Snap's latest endeavor to maintain growth and attract new users now that its rivals have copied its core features, like Stories and ephemeral messages.

The update aims to get users to use Lenses and in turn, spend more time in the app exploring other features such as Snapchat Stories and Snapchat's Discover feature.
