Tabloid paid out $30K to spike story alleging Trump love child

David Boies chairman of Boies Schiller Flexner

Sajudin, claimed the affair happened in 1989. He also said that he spoke to the tabloid about the story as a spokesperson for Trump, but did not know that the doorman had been paid. He said the story "had to come out", and he referred further questions to his lawyer.

Dylan Howard, editor-in-chief of the Enquirer, denied the company was "catching and killing" stories to protect Trump, saying the story was not published because the claims could not be proven.

The news about the payment he received comes as federal investigators in NY are examining efforts by Trump's personal attorney Michael Cohen to tamp down negative stories about the longtime real estate mogul as he ran for president. If prosecutors determine that the paper was indeed operating on behalf of the Trump 2016 presidential campaign, or Trump's current 2020 campaign, both the Enquirer and the campaign could be on the hook for serious violations of election finance laws.

The public-interest group Common Cause asked US authorities to investigate reports that a former doorman at a building developed by the Trump Organization was paid $30,000 in 2015 to stay silent about a potentially damaging rumor regarding Donald Trump's personal life.

The FBI on Monday, acting on a referral from Special Counsel Robert Mueller, raided Cohen's hotel room, office, and NY residence in search of documents related to both Daniels' and McDougal's payments.

It is unclear whether investigators are also scrutinizing the AMI payment to Sajudin.

He has confirmed that he gave $130,000 pornographic actress Stormy Daniels, who says she had an affair with the President after he married his wife Melania, during the 2016 campaign, but said he paid it out of his own pocket.

Major news outlets are running with the story after the New Yorker broke the news.

Bayern wary of Sevilla's last roll of the dice
A draw would be enough to see Bayern go through and it's (7.50) if the result ends that way in the Bavarian capital. The Sevillistas have been struggling in the Spanish domestic league after four consecutive winless performances.

The AMI sources New Yorker reporter Ronan Farrow spoke to didn't believe that the rumor was true while investigating it, but they were taken aback by what they believed was a concerted effort to cover it up.

Another person peddling derogatory information about President Trump during the 2016 campaign; another potential payoff.

Federal investigators who raided the office and hotel room of President Trump's longtime personal attorney are zeroing in on the National Enquirer over payments to an ex-Playboy model and a former doorman who said he had juicy information on Trump having an illegitimate child with an employee at Trump World Tower.

Cohen's attorney released a terse statement Monday arguing that the documents seized included "the unnecessary seizure of protected attorney client communications between a lawyer and his clients.".

Indeed, AMI's Radar deciding to finally publish Sajudin's account so soon after the company was contacted about it - and two years after the agreement with Sajudin was reached - suggests AMI didn't like how the whole thing looked.

Cohen is now under investigation by Mueller's office for his ties to the Trump campaign, which is alleged to have conspired with Russian officials to win the 2016 election.

In a practice called "catch and kill", the publication bought the exclusive rights to Sajudin's story and then buried it as a favor to Trump, the reports said. AMI has said that McDougall did not produce the columns, according to the New Yorker. McDougal's story was also not published. It cited as evidence a February 18 New York Times article detailing a phone call in which Davidson told Cohen that the deal was done.
