West Indies players arrive in Karachi for T20I series against Pakistan

Mohammed leading West Indies for 3 T20s in Pakistan

The issue of security remains the main talking point ahead of the T20I series which will mark the return of worldwide cricket to Karachi after nine years.Karachi recently passed a litmus list with flying colours when it successfully hosted the high-profile final of the Pakistan Super League at the National Stadium last Sunday.

The other two matches in the series take place on Monday and Tuesday.

The 33-year-old s last T20 for the West Indies was in the final victory over England in Kolkata two years ago. No major teams have toured there since the Sri Lanka team was attacked by terrorists in 2009 in Lahore.

It has been nine years since Karachi last hosted global cricket and the city is expected to come out in force to back the home side.

The Pakistan team is now preparing for the West Indies series at the National Stadium and Hasan says all players will be in form due to their exploits during the recently concluded PSL3.

Lahore hosted Zimbabwe in 2015, and Sri Lanka returned in 2017.

Courtney Browne, chairman of Cricket West Indies' (CWI) selection panel, said: "We had a few players that opted not to tour Pakistan, due to their or their families' security concerns and CWI have fully accepted their position".

Around 6,000 security personnel will guard the area around the National Stadium and armed guards will travel with the West Indies team from its hotel to the stadium.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu taken to hospital
It's the second time that Netanyahu, who held the communications portfolio until a year ago , is being questioned over the affair. Video footage showed a police vehicle pulling into the driveway of the prime minister's official residence in Jerusalem.

The decision follows after a number of top players including regular skipper Carlos Brathwaite, Evin Lewis and Chris Gayle have pulled out of the series due to security concerns.

Media reports said the ICC general Manager Cricket Geoff Allardice and Senior Manager Umpires and Referees Adrian Griffith are coming to Pakistan on the request of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

"We have made it very clear to the players and support staff that had personal reservations about this tour that we fully understand and respect their position".

West Indies was due to tour Pakistan last November but the tour was postponed due to heavy smog in Lahore.

Pakistan will likely also take the opportunity to blood some fresh talent with uncapped youngsters Asif Ali, Hussain Talat and Shaheen Afridi included in the squad led by Sarfaraz Ahmed.

"For the young guys, there is nothing like playing at home", Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur said.

The crowds in Pakistan will enjoy the talents of Marlon Samuels, Samuel Badree, Andre Fletcher, Rovman Powell and Kesrick Williams.
