1 person injured, suspect in custody after Nashville mall shooting, police say

The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Justin Golson.

According to Metro Nashville police public information officer Don Aaron, a dispute led to shooting.

An unidentified person answered the Opry Mills Mall phone line told reporters that they are "not accepting phone calls right now" before hanging up. Police took the suspected shooter into custody. The police official, briefing journalists at Opry Mill Mall, said the suspect told the ticket taker he wanted no further trouble after putting down his gun. Churchwell was struck in the neck, and later died form his injuries shortly after arriving at Skyline Medical Center.

He happened to be at the Opry Mills mall watching a movie when the shooting erupted. The suspected gunman reportedly left the mall building and immediately surrendered.

One suspect has been taken into custody. She was detained during the investigation.

Three nearby schools were also placed on lockdown after the shooting. As of 3:30 p.m., Sarr said he and his friend remained in the parking lot.
