Facebook Considering Ad-Free Subscription Service

In the aftermath of the scandal and Cambridge Analytica's concession that it will not be able to recover from its reputational crisis-although the company's leadership maintains that it acted ethically-the UK-based firm and its affiliates announced on May 2 that it will be "ceasing all operations".

The biggest cheer during Zuckerberg's keynote - outside of his announcement that everyone in the building was getting a free Oculus Go - came when the CEO announced it was reopening app reviews that had been paused after the Cambridge Analytica news broke.

This week, Twitter executives said it sold user data to former Cambridge employee Aleksandr Kogan's business, GSR, giving them "one-time" access to its application programming interface to a random sample of public tweets posted between December 2014 and April 2015, the report states.

Over the past several months, Cambridge Analytica has been the subject of numerous unfounded accusations and, despite the Company's efforts to correct the record, has been vilified for activities that are not only legal, but also widely accepted as a standard component of online advertising in both the political and commercial arenas. The last date for response is May 10. This information was used to enable Donald Trump's campaign in the 2016 presidential election. During an interview, however, Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook's chief operating officer, made mention of a paid version, saying if users wanted to completely opt out of ad tracking that they would have to pay for it. Bloomberg's source does not offer specifics on whether the ad-free option would just remove ads or if it would actually allow users to opt-out of Facebook sharing their personal information with advertisers altogether. The government says that even if non-disclosure pacts were signed between the company and its clients in India, a template of those agreements can still be produced as evidence.

Jazz ready to upset Rockets in NBA: Ingles
Joe Ingles led the way in scoring for the Jazz with 27 points, knocking down seven threes in nine attempts. He then added four more assists in the fourth quarter to finish with 11 for the game, a new career-high.

Facebook and Cambridge Analytica have until May 10 to respond to notices issued by the government of India.

Investigations against the company are also ongoing in the United Kingdom.

Britain's Information Commissioner's Office has been investigating Cambridge Analytica and its parent company, SCL Group, as part of a wider look at the use of personal data and election campaigns. "GSR was only ever a contractor to Cambridge Analytica and we understand it did work for many other companies". But it's not the only way to run the business. Other Emerdata directors include people associated with Cambridge Analytica. Emerdata could be used for a rebranding of Cambridge Analytica and the SCL Group, according two people with knowledge of the companies.
