Members Find Fault With NFL's New National Anthem Policy

Columnist Shaun King revealed the news that NFL players are considering missing matches

According to Shaun King, columnist for The Intercept, several NFL players are considering sitting out the NFL season until Kaepernick and safety Eric Reid are signed to NFL contracts. The new overhaul does allow players to remain in the locker room for the anthem.

The depositions were made for a grievance filed by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who claims he has been blackballed by the league over anthem protests. Reid also recently filed a collusion grievance against the National Football League, as no team has signed him three months into the NFL's offseason.

This latest development comes after the NFL announced a new policy where players have to stand for the national anthem if they are to be on the field, if they don't teams would face penalties.

Reid kneeled right alongside Kaepernick in protest. "There may be evidence that an owner decided not to sign Kaepernick because of his demonstrations, but it's not evidence that there was any agreement between multiple owners not to sign him".

Trump accuses Mueller's team of meddling in midterm elections
Whenever you get any kind of an informant anywhere near a campaign, there has to be an assurance that it was not political or partisan in nature.

Trump repeatedly has criticized players who don't stand for the anthem, and the fallout led to decreased television ratings for the league last season.

A separate question asked, "Do you think that NFL players who kneel during the national anthem are patriotic or unpatriotic?" Though he has stopped taking a knee, Reid vowed to continue protesting injustice.

Legal experts have said that professional football players, as private employees, likely don't enjoy constitutional protections from their employers for protests at work. Both McNair and New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft expressed grave misgivings about Trump's anthem stance but were unwilling to defy the president.

Kaepernick's lawyer, Mark Geragos, told the podcast host Amy Dash that the revelations emerged during depositions for Kaepernick's lawsuit against the league owners.
