NFL Players Who Don't Stand For Anthem 'Shouldn't Be In The Country'

Trump: NFL players who don't stand during National Anthem maybe 'shouldn't be in the country'

Last season, the NFL ran into loads of controversy as more and more players chose to kneel for the national anthem. "Or you shouldn't be playing, you shouldn't be there, maybe you shouldn't be in the country".

President Donald Trump has commented on the NFL's new rule against USA national-anthem protests, giving it his broad support and suggesting that players seeking to protest during the anthem should perhaps leave the US. Trump spoke to "Fox & Friends" in an interview that aired Thursday.

Speaking on Fox and Friends Thursday after the National Football League unveiled new rules saying that players who don't want to stand should stay in locker rooms, the president said: 'I don't think people should be staying in locker rooms. "But still, I think it's good", Trump beamed in the interview, taped previous afternoon while Trump attended an anti-immigration event in NY. The president's comments spurred a national conversation about patriotism and the nation's symbols and the use of peaceful protest.

Under the new league policy, teams can be fined an unspecified sum if players protest on the field.

While Kaepernick didn't play in the NFL a year ago, his silent protest swept through the league, with many players choosing to kneel or link arms during the national anthem.

Donald Trump has said athletes who don't stand for the USA national anthem should get out of the country.

FOX renewals and cancellations: Are your favorite shows returning?
The cast and crew believe that their efforts helped the show stay afloat for at least one more season. Brooklyn Nine-Nine to TBS was even a brief rumor that gained traction before even that was shut down.

Bears coach Matt Nagy said after practice Wednesday that the team will discuss the issue as a group at some point in the future.

Members of the New England Patriots kneel on the sidelines as the National Anthem is played before the game against the Houston Texans at Gillette Stadium on September 24, 2017.

"The NFL chose to not consult the union in the development of this 'policy, ' the statement said".

But the policy came under fire from some critics who say it infringes on players' First Amendment rights. "I think [the new policy] is all about eliminating distractions for the team and for the audience". I worry that kneeling N.F.L. players distract from their important political message - calling out police violence against African-Americans - and needlessly alienate otherwise persuadable people.

"The policy adopted today was approved in concert with the NFL's ongoing commitment to local communities and our country - one that is extraordinary in its scope, resources, and alignment with our players". "I brought it out".
