Trump's Latest Cabinet Tirade Lasted 30 Minutes

US Is Likely to Add About 15000 Work Visas This Summer

According to The New York Times, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen nearly resigned Wednesday after a heated argument in which Trump allegedly berated her during a Cabinet meeting focused on immigration.

A report from the New York Times claimed that Nielsen even wrote a letter of resignation after the outburst, but has not submitted it. She was reportedly upset after a cabinet meeting Wednesday in which President Donald Trump allegedly "berated her" for not doing enough to secure the country's borders.

But Mexico refused to pay for the wall, and despite Trump's efforts to limit undocumented immigration, the rate of attempted border crossings may have risen - estimates show that in April, US Border Patrol agents apprehended almost 40,000 people in March, or a 200% increase from 2017.

"The President is rightly frustrated that existing loopholes and the lack of Congressional action have prevented this administration from fully securing the border and protecting the American people", Nielsen said in the statement. "We are a nation of legislation and the president and his government may apply them" White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said in an announcement on Thursday.

Tyler Houlton, a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security, disputed that Nielsen had drafted a resignation letter and was close to resigning, calling those assertions "false".

China Trade Surplus With US Continues To Mount Amid Frictions
USA officials traveled to Beijing last week for talks on resolving the dispute between the world's two biggest economies. Its imports from the U.S. rose 20.3 percent, the fastest growth in three months.

As head of Homeland Security, Nielsen oversees a 20,000-person work force under Immigration and Customs Enforcement. For several weeks, Trump had advocated for the separation policy as a method to discourage border crossings, sources said to The Times.

While border apprehensions dipped previous year to their lowest levels ever, the numbers have been ticking up in recent months, returning to more typical historical levels. One person close to Nielsen said she is miserable in her job.

Frustrated by lawmakers who have prevented him from building a wall on the southern border, and by laws preventing him from deporting more migrants from the United States, Donald Trump has recently lashed out in anger at his subordinates and in rallies, fulminating over his inability to execute his sweeping campaign promises to keep more immigrants out of the country.

In late April, the president tasked Nielsen's Department of Homeland Security to contain and break up the traveling migrants. This week, the Justice Department announced that it would be prosecuting 100 percent of illegal border crossings-a decision that will involve separating more families, removing children from their parents when they are apprehended and detained. Must pass tough laws and build the WALL. The Post's account, headlined "Trump unloads on Homeland Security secretary in lengthy immigration tirade", adds the details that "Trump's tirade went on so long that many present began fidgeting in their seats and flashing grimaces", and that it lasted more than 30 minutes. According to the Times, Mr. Trump berated Nielsen in front of the entire cabinet on Wednesday.
