Apple reveals new iOS 12 privacy features

OLIXARApple iPhone SE 2 could be released tomorrow at WWDC 2018

In iOS 12, the upcoming version of the software that underlies the iPhone and the iPad, Apple is adding a collection of features that are created to help people control how they use their devices.

Apple could change course on this-it wouldn't be the first time they said something isn't happening multiple times only for it to happen.

Apple has announced new digital wellness features to help combat technology addiction at their Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in San Jose on June 4.

Detailed Activity Reports show the total time spent in each app, usage across categories of apps, how many notifications are received and how often a person picks up their iOS device.

iOS 12 introduces new features to reduce interruptions and manage Screen Time.

When it comes to how much time he spends on his iPhone, even Apple CEO Tim Cook has a problem. "We have never been in the data business", Cook said.

Visa card problems hit United Kingdom customers and businesses
Meanwhile, some companies are resorting to retro imprint and signature machines in order for customers to still use their cards. Marks & Spencer said: "We are unable to accept Visa card payments now .

Apple is closing in on Facebook by hitting its weakest point: privacy. Once your time limit is up, you are locked out of the app until the following day.

The newly unveiled updates also included limitations on "fingerprinting", ie how third-party tracking companies can monitor which devices are visiting their website via the browser, a move that will make it even more hard for advertisers to measure the reach of their online ads. Based on prior predictions, iOS 12 the release date for iOS 12 should be in September to coincide with the release of new iPhone devices for 2018.

The comments come as Apple unveiled a slew of new features for its Safari browser that are aimed at limiting Facebook, Google and other tech giants from tracking users across the web.

"This is beyond remarkable", Cook said, noting that the online App Store will be 10 years old in July. But Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi used a variety of euphemisms for it: "We might not realize just how distracted we've become", he said.

Enhanced privacy was part of a slew of improvements touted by Apple to developers, whose creations are key to the popularity of iPhones, iPads and Mac computers.
