Donald Trump withdraws endorsement of G7 joint statement, slams Trudeau

Trump administration officials on Sunday accused Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of stabbing President Trump in the back, blaming him for the president's refusal to endorse a joint statement with other world leaders.

In her first takeaway from the contentious meeting, Merkel expressed consternation about the US president's backtracking on the summit's final statement, while emphasizing that she'll keep talking with Trump.

The President's move to reject the communique followed a statement from Trudeau earlier, in which the prime minister announced, "We have released a joint communique by all seven countries" indicating that the United States had signed on.

Trump clashed with Trudeau after the prime minister said Canada would enact retaliatory tariffs in response to USA tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

Trump cited progress on reaching an agreement on the North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico, saying the final outcome would lead either to an improved trade deal or separate pacts with the two US neighbours.

But Trudeau says what the leaders did this weekend was "roll up our sleeves" and figure out language they could agree to on a broad range of issues. On the other hand, another social media user said, "It looks as if Madam Merkel is teaching The Donald a lesson!"

Caito Foods has ceased producing and distributing these products as the company and FDA continue their investigation. It recalled fresh cut watermelon, honeydew melon, cantaloupe, and fresh-cut fruit medley products at its facility.

Trump withdrew the USA from the Paris climate accord and his attendance of a G7 session on the issue was in question well into the last minute.

Navarro calls that a "socialist communique" that Trump pulled out of.

Heading into the leaders' summit in La Malbaie, Que., there were deep concerns the G7 alliance was fast becoming a G6 plus one because of a widening gulf between the US and the rest of the group in key areas such as climate and trade.

American President Donald Trump has said the WTO has been a "disaster" and "very unfair" towards the United States. Russian Federation was a member of the then G8 until it was expelled for annexing Crimea in 2014. "I think within the first minute I'll know", Trump said. "I've been called worse things by better people", said the elder Trudeau.

Trump was reacting to comments made by Trudeau at a press conference on Saturday in which he threatened to torpedo negotiations on a new NAFTA deal if the Americans did not remove tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum. Also seen in the picture are Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe with his arms crossed and Trump's national security adviser John Bolton among others. A little bit accurate, perhaps. Or we'll stop trading with them.

Macron said he and Trump held "open and direct" discussions, adding that he thought there was a way to get a "win-win" outcome on trade, though details remained unclear.
