European Union metals tariffs retaliation to start June 22

Report: German automakers offer to end EU's tariff's on US autos

The trade row between the E-U and the United States is in its full force as the European Commission says it will begin charging 25 percent import duties on a range of American products.

Malmström added that if the USA removes its tariffs, the European taxes would also be lifted.

The European Union (EU) on Friday levied tariffs on estimated $3.2 billion worth of American goods, in retaliation for tariffs US President Donald Trump's tariff imposition on imported steel and aluminium. Mexico retaliated against the move two weeks ago while Canada said it would place tariffs on U-S exports from July the first.

Trump said Monday that China's decision to retaliate in kind against his first batch of $50 billion in tariffs required a USA response to encourage Beijing to change its unfair practices.

From blue jeans to motorbikes and whiskey, the EU's hit-list of products targeted for tariffs with the U.S. reads like a long list of emblematic American exports.

But the administration's insistence that the U.S. was hit with disproportionate tariffs from key trading partners "is simply not true", wrote Gregory Daco, head of U.S. Economics at Oxford Economics, in a research note.

In a survey released Wednesday by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, almost half of European firms said it had become "more difficult" to do business in the past 12 months.

Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) Border Patrol near Hidalgo, Texas, while traveling with a family member. Moore told the Post that in the dark he had not been able to count the number of women and children.

As painful as the brewing trade war could prove, many have seen it coming.

What tariffs is the European Union imposing? The big trade conflagration, however, is with China.

Although American goods already in the United Kingdom will not increase in price overnight, shipments leaving the U.S. for Europe from Friday onwards will be charged the tariffs.

The White House last week announced plans to slap 25 percent tariffs on 1,100 Chinese goods, worth $50 billion in imports.

The Commerce Department is allowing companies to request exemptions from the steel and aluminum tariffs - if they can show that the metals they need aren't available from Americans producers.

Asian stocks fell, extending the worst week for regional equities since late March, amid concern global trade restrictions will curb growth.
