'Fair trade now fool trade', Trump vents anger on North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies, Trudeau

President Trump is greeted by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the official welcome of a G-7 summit Friday in Quebec. The summit comes as the U.S. is clashing with Canada and other big trading partners over tariffs

U.S. President Donald Trump took more swipes at Canada and its prime minister over trade issues as he settled in for a summit with North Korea in Singapore, contending that "Fair Trade is now to be called Fool Trade if it is not Reciprocal".

With Macron, on the back of a cozy meeting at the White House last month, Trump said they had a "good relationship" although he admitted they were having some issues on trade.

The news conference was followed by a series of tweets by Trump, who responded by calling Trudeau "meek" and "dishonest".

The attack on a long-time ally and its leader drew sharp criticism.

"The European Union had a $151 Billion Surplus-should pay much more for Military!"

The joint statement between the leaders of the U.S., France, Germany, the U.K., Japan, Italy, and Canada comes after President Trump refused to back down from his decision to impose global tariffs on goods, including steel and aluminum imports.

He did not name the document he was referring to, but said Trudeau "acts hurt when called out!"

Trudeau's remarks prompted Trump to pull out of a joint communique that was a fragile consensus on the trade dispute between Washington and its top allies, Kudlow said.

Kim sped through the streets in a limousine after his arrival in Singapore, two large North Korean flags fluttering on the auto, surrounded by other black vehicles with tinted windows and bound for the luxurious and closely guarded St Regis Hotel. He called Trump's refusal to sign the communique a display of "incoherence and inconsistency". He told CNN's Jake Tapper that "of course" Trump's tweets about Trudeau actually had to do with North Korea "in large part".

The 27-year-old forward - a Europa League victor with Atletico in 2017-18 after scoring 29 goals in all competitions - has a reported €100million release clause.

Kudlow says Trump won't let a Canadian prime minister push him around on the eve of his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. "It is essentially double crossing", Kudlow told CNN's Jake Tapper.

Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland hit back at Trump during a press conference on Sunday where she said that the president's attacks on Trudeau were not "appropriate or useful".

"State of the Union" host Jake Tapper asked Kudlow what right Trump and other USA officials had to be offended by Trudeau's comments, given the dispute.

Before leaving for Singapore, Mr. Trump had delivered a stark warning to America's trading partners not to counter his decision to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said Mr Trump's announcement on Twitter had destroyed trust and Europe's answer must be to stick even closer together. Can't do it in person. "He's a pathetic little man-child", Paris wrote.

"And that's what bad faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference", he continued.

"I have made it very clear to the President that it is not something we relish doing, but it something that we absolutely will do", Trudeau said.

Trump, after announcing the tariffs, sends message to Trudeau about NAFTA talks on May 31 - "Earlier today, this message was conveyed to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada: The United State (sic) will agree to a fair deal, or there will be no deal at all". "Massive trade deficits no longer!" "We need to stand with our democratic allies".

"For Canadians who ... stood shoulder to shoulder with American soldiers in far-off lands and conflicts from the First World War onward.it's kind of insulting", Trudeau said.
