Hornets reportedly agree to trade Dwight Howard to Nets for Timofey Mozgov

Nets trading for Dwight Howard in NBA stunner

The Charlotte Hornets apparently have a big trade in the works one day ahead of the start of the 2018 NBA Draft.

Last year, in his first and only season with the Charlotte Hornets, Howard averaged 12.5 rebounds and 16.6 points over 81 games. He is headed to the Brooklyn Nets, according to a new report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because the teams have not announced the trade and the league can not approve the deal until the trade moratorium ends on July 6.

It would be fitting if a buyout did happen, though, given how long the Nets once pursued Howard - only to have him leave them at the altar after that flight from San Antonio to Orlando. But he wore out his welcome after one season and was dealt to Charlotte.

This is a reunion of sorts for Mozgov. According to former National Basketball Association player Brendan Haywood, members of the Hornets' locker room had grown "sick and tired" of the antics of the big man.

SHOCKING: Woman who went missing found inside giant python's belly
Junaidi said the snake had swallowed the farmer whole, adding that it was the only such fatality recorded in the region. A young farmer was swallowed by an enormous killer snake in March previous year after harvesting a rubber plantation.

Mozgov, on the other hand, has two years, $32.7 million left on his contract. Yet, for Howard, it's not the numbers that are the problem... it's everything else.

Mozgov appeared in 31 games last season, averaging 4.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.4 assists per game. The only other National Basketball Association player in history to accomplish that feat?

Last season, he ranked third in the National Basketball Association in rebounds per game (12.5) fourth in double-doubles (53), ninth in blocks (1.6) and 11th in field-goal percentage (55.5 percent).

Getting Timofey Mozgov's contract off the books is a huge salary cap win for the Nets.
